About Downtown Huntington Beach

The residential neighborhood of Downtown is located in the southern region of Huntington Beach, California. This area offers an array of homes and condos as well as restaurants and retails stores. Many properties are located on Coast Highway, with views of the Huntington Beach Pier and the Pacific Ocean.

Home construction continues in this area as hundreds of new custom single family houses have been built during the last 20 years. Most of the construction in 1905 centered around Main Street with streets named after city, states, or numbers. Then more families came into the area and neighborhoods were developed around the Farquhar and Lake Parks. This eventually became known as the Park Area of Downtown.

Home developments in this area include Stonewood Estates, Lake Park Estates, Sandcastle Estates, Crystal Island, and Whaler’s cove. Townhouse and condo complexes were built like Plaza Almeria, Pier House, Vista Catalina, Vista Del Mar, Pacific Ranch, Seaside Village, and many more. The Downtown area is also home to small duplex properties that were built in the 1960s and 1970s.

There are highly ranked public facilities that serve Downtown like Ethel Dwyer Middle School and Huntington Beach High School. There are also several private schools in this city such as Montessori Child Development Center, Coastline Christian Preschool, and Warner Avenue Christian Academy.

Many improvements have been made throughout the years to the Downtown area including Pier Plaza Amphitheater, Bluff Top Park, the Life Guard Headquarters, and the HB Pier. Main Street has been redeveloped and paved beach parking lots have been put in along with beachside bathrooms.

There is so much to do in the Downtown District with over 250 businesses that line the streets. You’ll find world class shopping, dining, lodging, and activities as well as an exciting nightlife. There are more than 12 miles of sand with eight miles of paved boardwalk. This area also has one of the longest piers in California.
